Great Movies Make You Feel Something
There is no better feeling than what you feel when a great movie's credits start to roll.
You think about what you’ve just witnessed and wonder how you’ve gone on without seeing the piece of art before. It leaves you wanting more so you consume every secondary piece of media to go along with it, the soundtrack, reviews, behind-the-scenes and even other people’s tweets. Just to keep the movie magic alive. After all, entertainment always provides some sort of escape.
Movie magic can be so powerful that it can inspire change. Change to who you are, what you do, what you believe or what you feel.
Good movies make you feel during its runtime, great movies leave you feeling long past its runtime.
I’ve felt that magical feeling twice now, the first time at the credits of Black Panther with “All the Stars” and just recently with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The latter inspired me to start this, my movie musings. Thoughts on any movies I’ve seen.
I had a film minor in university giving me the opportunity to watch over 200 movies in 4 years. That’s no small feat and probably an absurd amount in that period of time. Some journalism classes in university give me the skills to articulate my thoughts. While I won’t be going back to reflect on every movie I’ve ever watched, I will reflect on the movies I see going forward. I will go back to the ones that I think are great. I will also be sharing two school projects because why not share about two films I was given the choice to write about during my time in university.
